Social Preview & OG Tag Checker for Lovable Apps

See how your link looks on LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Slack and iMessage — and get the exact fix to paste into Lovable.

Why social previews matter for launches

When you launch on LinkedIn, X or in a Slack community, the link card is your first impression. A sharp image, a clear title and a one-line promise make people stop scrolling. A blank grey box or a generic "Lovable App" title makes them scroll past. Previews are generated once by each platform's crawler and then cached, so getting them right before launch day matters more than fixing them afterwards.

What each Open Graph and Twitter tag does

Open Graph

  • og:title — the headline on the card. Keep it 50–60 characters.
  • og:description — the supporting line, 110–160 characters.
  • og:image — the picture. Must be an absolute https URL.
  • og:url — the canonical address of the page, so likes and shares are counted in one place.
  • og:type — usually website, or article for posts.
  • og:site_name — your brand name, shown above the title on some platforms.

Twitter / X

  • twitter:card — use summary_large_image for a full-width image.
  • twitter:title, twitter:description, twitter:image — optional overrides; X falls back to the Open Graph values.

The basics still count

The <title>, meta description and canonical link feed search engines and act as fallbacks when Open Graph tags are missing.

The ideal og:image spec

  • 1200×630 pixels (1.91:1 ratio). This crops well on every platform.
  • PNG or JPG, ideally under 600 KB so WhatsApp and iMessage render it.
  • Keep text and logos inside the central area; some apps crop the edges or show a square.
  • Served publicly over https with a 200 status, no login or hotlink protection.

How to set them in a Lovable app

Lovable apps define metadata per page. The easiest way is to paste the prompt from the "Fix it in Lovable" box above into your project chat: it lists every issue we found and the exact tags to add. Ask for a unique title and description on every page, an absolute image URL, and tags rendered in the server HTML. Then publish — the live site only changes after a publish.

How to refresh cached previews

Each platform caches the preview the first time a link is shared. After you publish updated tags, use the platform's post inspector or sharing debugger where one is available, or re-share the link. Adding a harmless query string such as ?v=2 also makes most platforms fetch the page again.

LinkedIn

Use LinkedIn's post inspector to re-fetch the page, or re-share after updating your tags.

X

Previews refresh on their own over time; re-sharing with a query string usually shows the new card sooner.

Facebook

Use Facebook's sharing debugger to scrape the page again, or re-share after updating your tags.

FAQ

Why does my Lovable app show no image when I share it?

Usually og:image is missing, uses a relative path, or points to a file that isn't publicly reachable. Set an absolute https URL to a 1200×630 image in the page's head metadata, publish, then refresh the platform's cache.

I changed my tags but LinkedIn still shows the old preview. Why?

Platforms cache previews for days. Publish your change first, then use the platform's post inspector or debugging tool if it offers one, or re-share the link after updating your tags.

What does "looks client-rendered" mean?

The raw HTML that crawlers download contains almost no text. Social crawlers don't run JavaScript, so tags or content added after load are invisible to them. Make sure tags are rendered on the server.

Is this checker free and is my URL stored?

Yes, it is free with a limit of 20 checks per day. We only keep an anonymous daily counter for rate limiting; the URLs you check and their results are not stored.
